Empowering the Upland Community since 1989, Upland Adult School is a beacon of transformation and lifelong learning. For decades, we’ve dedicated ourselves to not just educating but inspiring adults on their educational journey. Our mission goes beyond high school diploma completion; we foster a spirit of continuous growth, guiding individuals to elevate their English literacy skills, add additional skills that will enhance their college and career goals, work toward citizenship, and receive the profound benefits of lifelong learning. Registration
Upland Adult School offers open enrollment for the following programs: English as a Second Language (ESL), Citizenship, Computer Skills, and High School Diploma/GED Prep. Our ESL classes are “first-come, first serve.” Once a class is full, prospective students will be placed on a waiting list until openings arise. Our High School Diploma Program is a self-paced, online course and we will welcome all those interested. Classes are held in a variety of school and community locations throughout Upland. Registration is available online. Click here to register for our High School Diploma and GED programs. Click here to register for our ESL program. Placement testing is required for all programs.

ESL Classes
English as a Second Language (ESL) is for our non-native speakers who wish to learn, speak, read, and write English for many reasons: to improve their job prospects, further their educational goals, become U.S. citizens, better engage with their community, or just to help increase their involvement in their children’s education or activities. We offer three levels of classes to learn English. Class availability is offered mornings and evenings. Please call the Upland Adult Ed Office for more information at (909) 985-1864 ext. 21144.
SPRING 2024 CLASSES: we are now signing up students interested in taking courses for Spring 2024. Please see this link for more information! Our courses are run as a partnership with Chaffey College, so participants will register through Chaffey College's system. Please see the guidelines to register for ENGLISH and for SPANISH.
Citizenship Classes
Citizenship class prepares students, by improving reading and speaking skills, to successfully pass USCIS approved examinations. Students will learn specifics about United States History, the United States Government, the N400, and practice for the USCIS citizenship interview.
Computer Classes
Computer classes are designed to help those who are new to technology and the computer. Students will improve keyboarding/typing, learn basic computer technology skills, learn to navigate the internet and effective personal and professional email. Students will learn to use the computer while preparing resumes and personal budgets. Instruction will cover MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Powerpoint.
High School Diploma
The Upland Adult Ed High School Diploma program offers standards-based curriculum that allows students to earn a high school diploma as an adult. The program is an independent study that is offered in traditional book and paper as well as through online courses. During the course, students meet with the teacher a minimum of once a week to take tests and receive homework assignments. The requirements to earn an Adult Ed High School Diploma, a student needs to earn 180 credits broken down as follows:
- English - 30 credits
- Math - 20 credits
- Science - 20 credits (Physical science, Life/Biology Science)
- Social Studies - 30 credits (World History/Geography, U.S. History, Government, Economics)
- Fine Arts/Foreign Language - 10 credits
- Electives - 70 credits (Including PE credits)

Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Upland Adult School is now starting to offer introductory-level vocation courses designed to offer entry level skills. Please continue to visit our website to learn how you can be a part of welding and any other future CTE offerings.
WELDING: Skilled welders are in high demand. From NASCAR to national defense, manufacturing to energy, welding is an in-demand skill that provides many career opportunities. Starting in the Fall of 2023, Upland Adult School has now started a welding course, that leads to certification. Chaffey College Partnership
DUAL ENROLLMENT: Did you know that Upland Adult School is partnered with Chaffey Community College? Our partnership allows us to combine our resources to offer our students the very best of both schools. One such benefit is that students enrolled in Upland Adult School can also qualify for FREE classes at Chaffey College. Chaffey College offers Dual Enrollment, which is an excellent opportunity to reach educational goals. Please see this link for the Dual Enrollment flier more information. If you are already an Upland Adult School/Chaffey College dual enrollment student for Spring 2024, we invite you to a Spring 2024 Welcome Webinar where you can learn about a variety of topics such as obtaining textbooks, creating an educational plan, and logging into Canvas. CERTIFICATE PATHWAYS: Would you like to fast-track your career by earning a certificate? There are many careers that require 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 classes to earn a certificate, and these certificates can prepare you for careers in a variety of fields. Some of these fields are as certified nursing assistant (CNA), cyber security, graphic design, real estate salesperson, phlebotomy technician, and much more! These jobs can pay $25 an hour, and open doors for more advanced positions and careers. Support
Upland Adult School is pleased to offer support for our students in need. Our guidance counselor assists students with personalized guidance to help with any obstacles that would otherwise keep students enrolling and continuing attendance in any of our programs.
