About Mary Locke

Mary Locke is committed to providing every student with the opportunity to succeed in whatever career path he or she chooses to follow. Elected to the UUSD Board of Education in 2018, her focus has been on ensuring that students and teachers have the support and resources they need to make that happen.

Her own path was paved through years of community service while raising three children who attended Upland schools. She served as a school volunteer and PTA leader, worked the better part of a decade as an accounting and finance professional, and later became a substitute teacher.

Mrs. Locke believes her personal, professional, and classroom experience has given her a unique perspective as a school board member, particularly when it comes to recognizing the needs of today’s students and making sure they’re able to compete and prosper in the 21st century. This includes an emphasis on both academic and practical skills, expanding STEM learning opportunities, and retaining and attracting employees committed to student success.

Mrs. Locke grew up in Rowland Heights and has lived in Upland since 1991. She has a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and is pursuing her master’s degree in education from Grand Canyon University.
