A message from our Superintendent, Lynn Carmen Day

Dear Upland Unified Community,

Welcome to Upland Unified School District. With 14 campuses and nearly 9,600 students, we are proud to serve a vibrant community of learners. Every day, our District is guided by the mission of Creating Excellence for All, ensuring that every student can learn, grow, and thrive. We are grateful for the partnership of our families, staff, and community as we continue building pathways to success for all students.

We are proud that Upland Unified was recognized as a “Favorite School District” in the “Inland Valley Daily Bulletin” Reader’s Choice Awards. From our highly regarded StepUp Preschool to our distinguished high school, we believe every student deserves access to a high-quality, well-rounded education. Beginning in preschool, students benefit from strong academic programs enriched by the visual and performing arts, competitive athletics, and innovative hands-on learning experiences.

Our Career Technical Education (CTE) programs are a standout example of this commitment. With more than a dozen career pathways ranging from health sciences to engineering to digital media, students gain real-world skills that prepare them for college and career. Our Dr. Loren Sanchez U’College Academy and our Dual Enrollment Program also offer dual enrollment opportunities, allowing students to earn college credit up to an AA degree while in high school through a cohort-based program with classes held on campus. These pathways ensure that graduates are well prepared for the future.

We also take pride in our award-winning athletics and performing arts programs, which help students develop skills, teamwork, and confidence. The Upland Highland Regiment Band includes the Upland High School Pipe Band which even traveled to Scotland to compete on the world stage in the World Youth Bagpipe Competition.

Another point of pride is our farm-to-school Nutrition Services program, supported by regenerative gardens at every school site. Fresh produce from these gardens is incorporated into scratch-made meals that emphasize wellness, sustainability, and student input.
This would not be possible without the dedication, passion, and expertise of our educators and staff. Their incredible commitment, combined with strong partnerships throughout our community, makes Upland Unified a uniquely supportive and inspiring place to learn.
Throughout this school year, I encourage all members of our school community to stay connected, stay engaged, and continue working together to fulfill our shared promise of Creating Excellence for All.

With gratitude,
Dr. Lynn Carmen Day
Superintendent, Upland Unified School District
